POSITION SUMMARY 

Midstate Radiology in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking a Registered Nurse that will provide patient care based on the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation. 

 

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Performs nursing care to patient to include, but not limited to, the following activities: Preparing the patient's chart.Interviewing the patient to obtain required history.Explaining the procedure to the patient.Observing the patient following the procedure. Analyzing the patient and reporting status changes to the physician, as necessary. Obtaining patient surveys. Providing other patient support, as necessary. 
  • Schedules patients for angiography procedures. 
  • Administers medications, including pediatric sedation, as prescribed by the physician; monitors patient and documents results, as appropriate. 
  • Assists with emergency situations, as necessary, using ACLS protocols 
  • Maintains accurate patient records and logging of appropriate datasubmits patient charges at end of the working shift. 
  • Assists the physician and/or radiologic technologist with procedures, as needed. 
  • Maintains adequate level of supplies in examination rooms and reorders as necessary. Ensures equipment is operating properly and contacts appropriate party for equipment repair in order to ensure safe and efficient examination of patients. 
  • Maintains departmental daily assessment - crash cart, defibrillator, Accu Check, PT/INR, and refrigerator temperatures. 
  • Maintains departmental logs - out of department procedures, special procedures patient log, charges, follow-up and surveys, and narcotic logs. 
  • Performs related technical and/or administrative duties which include, but are not limited to: Completing necessary paperwork and labeling images.Reviewing scheduled patient appointments and contacting patient, via telephone, to confirm appointment date, time, and location. Advises the patient of any preparations required for the procedure. Ordering and reviewing labs Coordinating the exam with other modalities. Communicating “stat” results to referring physicians. Performing all necessary functions relating to the RIS/PACS. Assisting patient at all times (including to and from a vehicle, if necessary).Assisting the front office staff with technical questions regarding radiology procedures. 
  • Continues to develop professionally; maintains nursing license and current knowledge of the nursing profession to ensure continued contributions to the patients, referring physicians, and the company. 

 

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations and practices to give and evaluate patient care 
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of cardiovascular/radiological invasive procedures. 
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish and maintain a safe work environment 
  • Knowledge of current medications, actions, uses and administration 
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques, infection control, hemodynamics and analysis of formulas, and principles and 
  • practices of radiation safety 
  • Knowledge of medical equipment to include catheters, wires, and contrast agents and their indications 
  • Knowledge of and experience in using office equipment including telephone, fax, computer and photocopier 
  • Knowledge of and experience in using radiology-related computer systems (RIS/PACS) 
  • Ability to start an IV, monitor fluid administration and IV site 
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care 
  • Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions 
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports 
  • Skill in anticipating and reacting appropriately to a variety of situations, identifying and resolving issues 
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively interact with physicians, other facility staff, patients and families when providing instructions or responding to questions or exchanging patient-related information 
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the telephone 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient/employee record information 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of TN 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications must be current or obtained within 3 months of hire
