Who We Are: Our story began in 1966 when Drs. Robert Taylor, Harris Knudson, and James Lum joined together to form Taylor, Knudson & Lum, a radiology and radiation oncology practice. The practice expanded in 1969 with the additions of Dr. Francis Esposito, followed by Drs. Richard Ellis and Paul Bandt in 1971. In 1977, the practice was renamed Desert Radiologists. In 1987, the practice relocated to the 2020 Palomino Lane building and still operates as an imaging center today. The practice name was officially changed to Desert Radiology in 2017. Performs computerized tomography to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention at the request of a licensed practitioner. The successful CAT Scan Technologist demonstrates best practices in CAT scanning and patient care. Depending upon location, the CAT Scan Technologist may be required to perform advanced exams, such CAT Angio, CAT Cardiac and/or CAT Colonography exams.
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Performs and maintains daily check-ups and quality control on CT scanners as required by credentialing organizations, along with daily quality assurance of the CT schedule in order to address potential conflicts..
Responsible for the non-technical component of the protocol process, including: ensuring that the patient is properly prepped for exams, including blood work, allergies, contraindications, etc., monitoring missing requisitions, faxing transmissions to referring MD offices to obtain missing requisitions, ensuring that the requisition is completely filled out i.e. exam, clinical and signature authorization numbers match the exam ordered and codes are correctly entered, evaluating requisitions to ensure exam requested matches the exam ordered, verify that exams have been scheduled at the proper site, time slot and day and contacting the Customer Care Center for assistance with scheduling changes as needed.
Reviews requisitions to determine proper study; interviews patients for medical history; prepares patients for exams; administers oral and IV contrast; utilizes knowledge of Creatinine meter; explains benefits and risks of contrast to patient; positions patient appropriately; selects scan parameters and exposure factors; monitors patient while scanning; reviews images for quality and abnormalities; adheres to OSHA guidelines; adheres to guidelines regarding radiation protection and recordkeeping; completes documentation and file notations; performs QC and patient tests according to protocol; performs weekly Emergency Crash Cart QC; works cooperatively with radiologist.
Provides excellent care and service to patients. Explains exams, contrast, positioning, etc. to patients. Demonstrates proficient IV skills. Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation. Tracks patients from exam start to discharge, ensuring that stat exams are processed appropriately and expeditiously. In an emergency situation, assesses the patient's condition and assists radiologist as needed (i.e. with medicine or supplies.)
Performs IV insertion as needed following proper guidelines as established by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

COMPENSATION:The hourly range for this position is $32.98 - $49.47. Final determinations may vary based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, geographic location etc. In addition to this range, Radiology Partners offers competitive total rewards packages, which include possible incentive and productivity programs, health & wellness coverage options, 401k benefits, and a broad range of other benefits such as family planning and telehealth (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
