POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Director, Cloud Engineering will lead and oversee the Cloud Engineering and Cloud Infrastructure teams, ensuring the delivery, optimization, and security of cloud-native applications and infrastructure. This role will drive strategic initiatives, foster collaboration across IT and clinical teams, and ensure alignment with business needs and industry best practices. The role will report to AVP, Clinical Technologies and serve as a key leader in the development, deployment, and support of clinical platform services.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Management
  • Directly manage the Cloud Engineering and Cloud Infrastructure leaders, providing mentorship and promoting career growth.
  • Oversee the work of both teams, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of cloud solutions and infrastructure.
  • Promote communication and cooperation among teammates to create a spirit of unity in the department.
  • Works closely with leadership and teammates to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to direct reports (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

Strategic Planning & Execution
  • Develop and execute cloud strategy in alignment with organizational goals and clinical needs.
  • Drive the formation and management of a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE).
  • Stay current with cloud technologies and industry trends, recommending innovations as appropriate.

Operational Excellence 
  • Ensure the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Oversee CI/CD pipelines, application deployment, and automation processes.
  • Manage escalations, provide support to IT groups and customers, and optimize resource allocation and budgets.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Work cross-functionally with clinical, IT, and vendor teams to ensure cloud strategy supports business and clinical objectives.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to AVP and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as a liaison for clinical application vendors and internal development teams.

Security & Compliance
  • Develop and enforce processes and standards adhering to industry best practices, including security controls and compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, FDA).
  • Contribute to security planning, analysis, and implementation across internal and external systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Travel as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native applications, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and automation. 
  • Experience with radiology-centric applications (PACS, EMRs, VNAs, Voice Recognition systems) and interoperability standards (DICOM, HL7). 
  • Strong knowledge of cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), deployment technologies, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation). 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven, Ansible), scripting languages (Bash, Python), and configuration languages (YAML).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in healthcare IT, cloud engineering, or infrastructure management, including 5+ years in a leadership role.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $150,000-$170,000. Final determinations may vary based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, geographic location etc. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
