Position SummarY
As a Radiology Coordinator, you will play a vital role within our radiology team by offering technical, clinical, and communication support to both our radiologists and clinical clientele. This position serves as a crucial link between our Infinity Management managed services divisions and our esteemed team of nationally recognized radiologists. To excel in this role, the Radiology Coordinator should possess a profound understanding of healthcare and radiology information systems. Proficiency in navigating PACS, RIS, and voice recognition systems is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability by taking on tasks that may extend beyond their typical expertise. Attention to detail and effective communication, whether in technical or layman's terms, are paramount when engaging with our diverse audience, which includes both radiology and clinical staff at our customer hospitals. In addition to liaising between radiologists, the IT department, referring physicians, and other administrative units, the candidate must exhibit strong teamwork skills and the ability to navigate various personalities, contributing to a positive work atmosphere. Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Handle incoming telephone calls from referring physicians. Verify the caller's identity and promptly locate the requested information. Relay both STAT and non-STAT results to the inquiring physician or connect them to a qualified radiologist or radiology subspecialist when necessary.
- Act as a liaison between the hospital, clinical contacts, and the onduty radiologists. Ensure effective communication between these parties.
- Ensure that all examinations are prepared for interpretation by attaching relevant prior exams, notes, and documents to the studies as needed. Collaborate with customer staff and technicians to obtain any missing information required by the Radiologist.
- Monitor the Imaging worklists and balance the workload as required, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Coordinate efforts to maintain a safe work environment. Report any issues related to facilities or technology systems promptly.
- Collaborate with new Radiologists and support staff to provide orientation on systems, scheduling, and operational requirements to ensure a smooth integration into the team.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in handling patient information and sensitive data at all times. These responsibilities are critical to ensuring the efficient operation of our radiology department and delivering high-quality service to our patients and referring physicians.
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience working in a technical healthcare environment where multiple information systems are utilized
- Background in radiology, interventional radiology, or radiology administration is preferred, demonstrating a solid understanding of the healthcare radiology field
- Familiarity with industry-specific systems is preferred, including PACS (Fuji, Intelerad), RIS (Merge, Fuji), Voice Recognition (PowerScribe), HER/EMR (Meditech, CPSI, McKesson), Clario
- A solid understanding of radiology applications and workflow processes within a healthcare setting
